WHAT IS CAMP KOKODA?

Camp Kokoda is an expedition style school camp in the beautiful scenic rim. It has 7 comfortable campsites nestled on 650 acres of natural bushland, providing a school camp experience like no other.

WHAT IS KOKODA PARK?

Kokoda Park is our centre-based facility in the Lockyer Valley. It’s located at the base of Mt Beau Brummell on 160 acres and provides the perfect introduction to wilderness/expedition-style camps. It offers dormitory-style rooms for students, dedicated teacher accommodation and a chef to prepare delicious meals.

HOW ARE THESE FACILITIES CONNECTED TO THE KOKODA YOUTH FOUNDATION?

Kokoda Youth Foundation owns and operates these facilities. This means school groups benefit from the Foundation’s successful 20 year history in delivering life-changing youth programs, which are grounded in the Kokoda Values of Courage, Endurance, Mateship and Sacrifice.

WHAT HAPPENS UPON ARRIVAL?

We are not going to throw you in the deep end. When you disembark your bus, you will be met by your outdoor instructor who will walk you through the preparation for camp.

ARE THE INSTRUCTORS QUALIFIED?

Yes, all our instructors are well qualified and very experienced. They all hold qualifications in Wilderness First Aid and all of the relevant technical qualifications to ensure participants are completely safe while having fun on our amazing activities.

DO PARTICIPANTS NEED THEIR OWN CAMPING EQUIPMENT?

No. We will provide everything. It is important that you follow the instructions on your packing list which you will receive prior to the camp.

HOW DOES THE WEATHER IMPACT CAMPS?

The activities will only go ahead if it is safe to do so. During hot summer months, walking is kept to a minimum or scheduled for the morning or afternoon.

IS IT SUITABLE FOR FIRST-TIME CAMPERS?

Absolutely! We usually have students who have never been camping before. The purpose of camp is to enjoy new experiences, get outside your comfort zone and have an amazing adventure. Your instructor will teach you everything you need to know.

WHAT FOOD IS PROVIDED ON CAMP?

We have a wide variety of fresh meat and vegetables, fruit, snacks and delicious desserts. Every day, you will be provided with a filling breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as morning and afternoon tea.

WILL SPECIAL DIETARY NEEDS BE CATERED FOR?

We cater to all special dietary requirements. You will have the opportunity to inform us about your needs in your pre-camp administration.

HOW IS THE FOOD PREPARED?

You will be cooking mostly on the campfire; however, we also have gas cookers available at every campsite.

ARE THERE SHOWERS AND TOILETS?

Unfortunately, there are no showers, but you will have the opportunity to have a ‘birdbath’ or a swim in the dam every day. All campsites have composting toilets.

WHAT ACTIVITIES WILL WE BE DOING?

We have lots of exciting activities to keep the adrenalin pumping. Our ‘challenge by choice’ philosophy means you will never be pushed beyond your personal comfort levels. Our favourite activities are the abseil, the giant swing and the challenge course; but we also have canoeing, ropes courses, crate stack, sugar glider, flying fox and of course plenty of initiatives and games.
